1. Setting a Budget
One of the first things to decide is how much do you want to spend on your new kitchen? Do you want structural/layout changes to open up two rooms to make a great living space? Is your budget a total budget or monthly budget? Set a realistic budget and let your designer know. They can then ensure you get the best kitchen possible for your money.
2. What you want from the Kitchen
When planning a kitchen; think about what you want from the space. Are you the next MasterChef? What kitchen appliances do you need? Do you want them to be integrated? How much worktop space do you need? Do you want a seating area, table or island and for how many people? Will it work for special occasions like Christmas when all the family are round? The most important thing is to make sure you get a kitchen that works for you and your family. Do you work from home and use the kitchen? Are the ideas I have practical? Your kitchen designer will be able to help ensure you get the right design for the space and lifestyle you have.

5. Kitchen Appliances
Think about what appliances you want in your kitchen. Do you need a washing machine and dishwasher? What sort of oven do you want? Do you need a grill? What about microwave? Do you want a gas or electric hob? Which of these devices will be built-in, and which ones will stand alone? Free-standing equipment is generally cheaper, but integrated is more pleasing to the eye.
6. Get a site survey
Get a kitchen specialist to do a site survey. They will be able to talk you through all your ideas and ensure that you keep to your desired budget. They will also make sure that all the correct measurements are taken to ensure there are no problems at time of installation.
